This is an initial email or telephone contact with the parent or carer to discuss their concerns and to determine if an assessment would be appropriate.

Parents or carers can request a report/programme to be written following an initial assessment, review, nursey observation or course of therapy. Typically reports are provided within 1 week of request unless otherwise agreed.

Therapy sessions last 45-60 minutes. Alongside the therapy session(s) the therapist will prepare therapy materials and a written plan of targets, this is included in the cost. The frequency of therapy sessions will be agreed with you following initial assessment and a range of options are available.

Initial assessment appointments last up to an hour and a half. The appointment includes time to take a case history, work with your child, provide feedback to the family and to plan next steps. A report can be requested after the initial assessment at an additional cost of £40.

Please note that, with the exception of training, an initial assessment is required prior to any further services being available. An Initial assessment only service is also available. 

A visit to observe your child in their preschool setting and to offer recommendations to setting staff can be provided. This visit includes a 45-minute observation and a 30-minute feedback discussion with key staff in the setting.

A review assessment can be provided and will last up to an hour. This appointment includes time to reassess the child’s communication skills and progress towards agreed targets, provide feedback to the family and to plan next steps. A report can be requested at an additional cost.
